About Bill
William R. "Bill" Wagner dedicated his career to education, mentorship, and public service. For more than 35 years, he taught biology and other science courses at Dallas High School, where he was known for challenging students to think critically while making science engaging and accessible. His classroom encouraged curiosity, discussion, and a genuine interest in learning, and many of his former students credit him with helping shape their academic and professional paths.
A 1974 graduate of Dallas High School, Bill earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology from King's College and later completed a Master of Science in Education at Wilkes University. He believed that education should develop not only knowledge but also critical thinking, problem-solving, and a lifelong desire to learn.
In addition to teaching, Bill was deeply involved in educational leadership. He served as president of the Dallas Education Association for nearly 25 years and as Treasurer of the Northeastern Region of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Throughout his career, he worked to support both students and fellow educators, and after retiring from the classroom in 2014, he remained active through PSEA and Leadership Northeast's Junior Leadership program.
Bill also believed that learning extended beyond the classroom. He served as yearbook advisor and founded Dallas High School's Seinfeld Club, creating opportunities for students to become involved, build friendships, and enjoy school in ways that reached beyond academics.
Outside of his professional life, Bill enjoyed traveling, attending concerts and theater productions, following Penn State football, and spending time with family and friends. He was especially proud of his children and took great joy in celebrating their accomplishments.
